Here is a song from our 7" EP released by Whoa Oh Records.
The Roof and the Rod
We were born with scholars hearts but minds for law,
Not far in age and measured with marks on the wall.
But now our shoulders don’t stand for old.
There is more to it than we’ll ever know
So we tax our minds by thinking.
A search for reason amid distractions like
What do our betters lend to other betters when
Time’s expanse has left them with mostly bitterness?
“We shared the roof and rod so don’t be shy,”
A brother’s pardon breathes out like a sigh.
“And waiting for tomorrow won’t hasten the light
It’s daylights cruel kind to wait all night
Although I have no where to go.”
May all these fatal flame be put away,
Or laid to rest for another day.
And I explain that you’ve got to let it go
“You say there’s no possibility, so…”
If you are stubborn I am stumped
Though I know I am the same way.
But what do fair brothers lend to their blooded kin?
We always apologize but what do fair brothers lend?
“We shared the roof and rod so don’t be shy,”
A brother’s pardon breathes out like a sigh.
“And waiting for tomorrow won’t hasten the light
It’s daylights cruel kind to wait all night
Although I have no where to go.”
