Let Me Tell You About The Sidekicks...

They're totally excellent. I love rock n roll and I love self-expression. And both of these things are so much better when they are genuine. In other words, when the people creating the sounds or expressing the "self" are doing so with some honesty. But often for me, this is hard to find, especially in combination.

This is why the Sidekicks are totally excellent. They make great, honest, rock n roll music. Their songs are well written and passionate. They feel powerful and thoughtful, yet honest. Also they are good dudes and having seen them live many times, they are always fantastic.

As with the many times before, I am super happy to be playing with them again on Friday! You should come to this show, it's going to be good. Also listen to The Sidekicks if you haven't already. Seriously.

Columbusland Theme Music!

Exciting News!

Johnny DiLoretto over at the Gateway Film Center asked us to write new theme music for their homegrown show Columbusland, so we did! With the help of our good friend Eric Cronstein of The Tone Shoppe, we recorded and produced the theme a few weeks ago and you can hear it in Columbusland Episode 3 starting this Friday, March 8th.

It was incredibly fun working on this. We spent some time listening to the best themes from television and film (Kids in the Hall, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, M.A.S.H., etc.), worked on a tune, then played around until we had found something we liked. Once at the Tone Shoppe with Eric, we fiddled with sounds for a while and experimented with different ideas to get the right feel. We wanted something that was boisterous enough to be exciting, but would still have some emotion or "pathos" as Johnny DiLorretto put it. We also put a guitar solo in it. Because guitar solos are awesome.

Listen to our theme in Columbusland Episode 3 and let us know what you think!
